MageBridge for Joomla! 1.7
Friday, 22 July 2011Joomla! 1.7.0 Stable came out just a little while ago, and we are proud to present to you that MageBridge is now fully compatible with Joomla! 1.7. It actually did not take that much work. While the leap from 1.5 to 1.6 was huge, version 1.7 brings little changes for extension developers.
What's new with Joomla! 1.7 and MageBridge?
Well, there are for sure a lot of changes with Joomla! 1.7, but none of them actually have impact on MageBridge. The core of Joomla! had some minor changes (among which updates to the class JModuleHelper) which required also some changes in the MageBridge code. But apart from that, the 1.6 version of MageBridge ran fine on Joomla! 1.7.
Joomla! 1.7 also brings more stability and usability to the multilingual features already added to 1.6. We haven't seen any full-blown multilingual sites yet based on Joomla! 1.6/1.7 (meaning: without the use of Nooku or JoomFish) but we are excited to see this happening - partially because MageBridge allows you to connect this multilinguality to the Magento multilinguality easily.
Kudos
Kudos to the Joomla! team for releasing another stable version of Joomla!, and keeping up the spirit. Thanks you guys.
