MageBridge plugin for Xmap 2.0
Thursday, 25 August 2011Some time ago, Vargas released their 2.0 version of the popular Xmap sitemap extension for Joomla!. We just released a MageBridge plugin that ensures MageBridge integration with Xmap 2.0.
Meet Xmap 2.0
The features of Xmap 2.0 are - in respect to MageBridge - exactly the same as the previous version. However, the backend interface is drastically improved and - instead of the original Xmap-specific extensions - third party components can now be integrated through Joomla! plugins. With these changes, Xmap has made a huge effort to get their component in compliance with Joomla! standards, and by-the-by also includes compatibiity with Joomla! 1.6 and Joomla! 1.7.
The MageBridge plugin for Xmap 2.0
The new Xmap version also required a code change in our MageBridge plugin for Xmap: The internal logic stayed the same, but the extension-type needed to be rewritten from Xmap-specific to Joomla!-generic. We are happy to announce that this actually fairly easy - meaning that Xmap 2.0 does not only offer a better architecture, but also offers backwards compatibility to some extend.
