One HTTP request for all your Joomla! CSS and JavaScript
Sunday, 11 April 2010One of the tricks to optimize your website for speed is to limit the number of HTTP requests - the less files the browser needs to load, the less bandwidth is needed. We have developed a Joomla! System Plugin - called ScriptMerge - which allows you to merge all CSS and JavaScript files into single files with just a few mouse clicks. The plugin is available for free.

Our plugin can be installed in Joomla! like any other extension and when enabled, it fetches the HTML-body and replaces all references to CSS and/or JavaScript with one single CSS-call and one single JavaScript-call.
If you work with many different plugins, modules and components, chances are there are dozens of separate CSS-links and JavaScript-files that the browser needs to deal with. And all these separate downloads are eating away your bandwidth. With the ScriptMerge plugin this problem is solved quickly.
