MageBridge 1.5 is out

Friday, 27 August 2010

After months of hard work, we decided to increases the major number of MageBridge from 1.4 to 1.5. It's a small change, but actually it falls together with the introduction of a new caching ability in MageBridge: Forget about Magento Enterprise - here comes MageBridge!

Key features of MageBridge 1.5

While MageBridge 1.5 is just released, actually it's features have been around for months - except one: caching. With the new caching ability, you can configure a specific Joomla! page to only load blocks from the MageBridge cache, eliminating the need to fetch data from Magento. With this, you can gain very fast page-loads: This equals the Full Page Caching feature of Magento Enterprise - but now with the ability to configure everything yourself much more easily.

Other features have also gained increase in speed: JavaScript libraries like ProtoType and jQuery can now be loaded through the Google API, the code has been improved in both Joomla! as Magento to load objects more efficiently and template-patches allow you to offload Magento and serve files from your Joomla! site instead.

Release notes

The release notes list more on the features of MageBridge 1.5. Also checkout the fresh MageBridge Caching guide for more information on how to gain lightning speed with your Magento shop.
