Setting up Magento sites involves most of the time also third party Magento extensions. But how to find them in the first place? The official MagentoTM Connect site lists all extensions, but many people don't find the site convenient to use. We've created an alternative.
YireoTM Package Search
Last weeks we have worked upon a new simple site - Yireo Package Search - that allows you to search for Magento extensions quickly and efficient. We do this by spidering the original Magento Connect and offering the same content within a simple site. So what we actually provide is a cached version of the original, plus search capabilities.
Search, sort, find
This new site is quick and efficient: It's only purpose is to allow you to quickly find specific extensions. You can search for a specific keyword and sort your results easily. For every extension various information is available: For free community extensions (that can be downloaded through Magento Connect) things like the extension key and the PEAR channel are available. For commercial extensions this information is ofcourse missing.
RSS feeds
Moreover, for every search you make, the URL changes and for this URL a RSS feed is available. This means you could not only use our package cache by browsing through the Yireo Package Search but you could re-use the information through a feed as well.
