MageBridge version 1.3 is out

We are happy to annouce that we have released MageBridgeTM version 1.3. Actually, for existing customers this release is not so exiting, because all features of 1.3 were already included in the latest builds of 1.2. But we are proud to announce this to the world as well.

Main features

While a lot of things happened under the hood of MageBridge, it's main features are a new Joomla! Content Plugin and support for Magento 1.4. The functionality of the Content Plugin is a bit hard to describe, but it boils down to the fact that Joomla! content can be handled as if it was Magento content. Within MagentoTM you can add CMS-tags to CMS-pages, and suddenly this functionality is now also available in Joomla!TM through MageBridge.

Magento 1.4 is not yet out, but we have successfully tested things with Magento 1.4 Beta (Community Edition) and Magento Enterprise 1.7. MageBridge works like a charm, so we feel confident about the release of Magento 1.4 Stable. Magento 1.4 also introduces a thing called widgets, which is already handled correctly by the MageBridge Content Plugin. The only thing that is missing is a Joomla! editor-plugin that behaves in the same way as the current TinyMCE-plugin which is included in Magento 1.4. This feature will be introduced in the next MageBridge version.

Looking ahead

Because MageBridge version 1.3 now includes all of the planned features, we can go ahead and work on the features of MageBridge version 1.4. As mentioned, a JCE-plugin to add Magento widgets easily to Joomla! content is on the roadmap, and we actually have a prototype working already.

YireoTM (or actually our Dutch identity Jira ICT) became an Anahita social partner as well, and we hope to add MageBridge integration with Anahita in the next months as well.
