Dynamic404

Never confront your visitors with ugly 404 errors anymore! Dynamic404 searches the Joomla! database for possible matches, and redirects visitors with a clean 301 to the proper page. You can even build your own TinyURL with this.

Dynamic404 - Features

A vital SEO-tool for every Joomla site

  • No more ugly 404 pages
Dynamic404 allows you to  optimize the look-and-feel of your 404-pages. You can use any Joomla! page as 404-page

  • Page suggestions
When a 404-error is encountered, most likely the URL still contains valuable information about what the correct URL should have been. Dynamic404 analyses this information, and is able to generate a list of page suggestions. Each suggestion is given a matching percentage. The match with highest percentage is listed first.

  • Redirect automatically
Instead of just showing a list of suggestions, Dynamic404 is also able to redirect to the best possible match. This way, your visitors never encounter a 404-error. Also, the Google Search engine is told to index the new page instead.

  • Customize manual redirects
If the built-in automatic search does not work for a specific 404, you can always add your own manual rules.

  • Fix URL typos made by your cutsomers
Knowing how much  power Dynamic404 is giving you, you can easily add entries to prevent typos in the URL.

  • Shortened URLs
Knowing that 404-errors can actually be turned into usable 301-redirects, you can optimize your marketing by using your own short URL schema. Why use services like tinyurl.com and bit.ly if you could generate your own short URLs (example: http://yireo.com/d404).

  • Support for third party extensions
Dynamic404 offers - besides the support for the Joomla! core - plugins for integration with FLEXIcontent, K2, ZOO, SimpleLists, MageBridge and VirtueMart

What it does

Dynamic404s fuzzy logic uses Menu-Items aliases, article aliases and other redirect rules

The Dynamic404 component works out-of-the-box by redirecting 404-pages to other pages (using either a 301 or 307 HTTP Status). To determine which page is the closest match, it looks at Menu-Items and articles to find a matching alias. Alternatively, you can configure redirects yourself from within the Joomla! Administrator. This way you can even fix URL-typos made by your visitors.

If Dynamic404 is unable to redirect automatically (or if you choose not to redirect), it displays an error-page similar to the default Joomla! 404 page. However, this page is enhanced with a link to the Joomla! search and a list of most likely matches.
