JoomlaDays NL 2011
Friday, 15 April 2011Already two weeks ago, the official Dutch Joomla!Days 2011 took place in Doorn (Netherlands). The weekend was filled with exciting talks and ofcourse social meets (with a beer). The guys of Yireo were also present - part of us were acting as volunteers to carry the event, part of us were sponsor, part of us was just drinking beer. Here's a short review.
Molajo, Nooku, Construct, Joomla! 1.6 & 1.7
Exciting were the talks about new technologies like Nooku and Construct templating framework. There was some word as well on Molajo, the new fork ... sorry, distribution of Joomla! 1.6. Also some presentations added good value to the existing Joomla! 1.6 and the upcoming Joomla! 1.7. Alltogether, there were very exciting talks.
Social event
Surely, the Joomla!Days were a social event as well. We had the pleasure to talk with various co-developers like the guys behind AkeebaBackup and NoNumber. And ofcourse meet up with all our friends from the Dutch Joomla!Community and the guys behind Nooku. Chatting, drinking beer, and having generally a good time - it's all part of the Joomla! experience.
No multilingual talk?
Interesting was the fact that there was no presentation whatsoever on multilinguality. While so far JoomFish has been the main extension to add translations to Joomla!, it is not compatible with Joomla! 1.6 (yet). Also, not everybody seems to appreciate the concepts of the new multilingual features of the Joomla! 1.6 core. It seemed to us that Nooku Content is a great alternative for adding translations.
