Using the MageBridgeLinks/JCE-plugin

The JCE-editor is the most popular editor for Joomla!TM, and allows you to easily add images and links to your content. With the MageBridgeLinks/JCE plugin you can also easily add MageBridgeTM product-links or category-links to your content. This document explains the installation and usage.

Basic usage

First, we will explain what you get when installing the MageBridgeLinks/JCE plugin. You will need the full MageBridge extension and JCE plugin/component to start with. Also, MageBridge needs to be configured properly and the bridge between Joomla! and MagentoTM needs to be up and running.

When JCE is configured as editor, you can easily select text within your content and hit the Insert/Edit Link button to create links to other parts of your site. A popup will open up, allowing you to easily select articles and weblinks. With the MageBridgeLinks/JCE plugin, MageBridge pages are also added to this list.

With the MageBridgeLinks/JCE you can easily add:

  • Links to MageBridge category-pages
  • Links to MageBridge product-pages
  • Links to other MageBridge pages like account-page or shopping cart

Installing the MageBridgeLinks/JCE plugin

Download the MageBridgeLinks/JCE plugin from here.

mb_jce_advlink3The installation of our MageBridgeLinks/JCE-plugin assumes that you have already installed and configured the JCE-component and JCE editor-plugin. The JCE-component ships with its own way of installing third party JCE-extensions (like our MageBridge/JCE plugin).

Navigate to Components > JCE Administration > Install. Next, upload the MageBridgeLinks/JCE plugin to the Joomla! site. The procedure here is the same as for any other JCE-extension, which again is pretty much the same as installing a regular Joomla! extension.

To confirm everything is installed, browse to the Plugin Extensions page within the same JCE Administration component. The MageBridge Links for Advanced Link plugin should be listed here.

Configuring the MageBridgeLinks/JCE plugin

Navigate to Components > JCE Administration > Group. Select the group for which you want to configure settings. Once the right group has been opened, click on the Plugin Parameters tab. The MageBridgeLinks/JCE plugin should be listed on this page.

The settings are the following:

  • Enable MageBridge: Whether to enable this MageBridgeLinks/JCE plugin all together
  • Allow Product Links: Allow an user to create links to MageBridge products
  • Allow Category Links: Allow an user to create links to MageBridge categories. This setting is required for displaying product links (because products will only be displayed within the JCE-editor using the category-based hierarchy of the site)
  • Allow Product Links: Allow an user to create links to various other MageBridge pages like the shopping cart, the checkout, the account-page or just a login/logout link
  • Root Category ID: When you enter the ID of a Magento category here, it's subcategories will be displayed within the JCE-editor. Actually, the Magento category configured here does not have to be a Root Category, but can be any Magento category.

What is not possible with this plugin?

It is not possible to create Magento blocks, Magento widgets or other Magento content with this MageBridgeLinks/JCE plugin. That functionality will be made available using a different JCE-plugin in the future.
