Make sure that Magento is actually your thing, and that MageBridge is worth the money: Instead of purchasing MageBridge, you can always just download a trial to see how MageBridge functions. If you think Magento is too complicated, do not think MageBridge will solve your problems.

Configuring the bridge

The first step in making use of MageBridge is to get the bridge up and running. This bridge is also referred to as API and involves the actual connection between Joomla! and Magento. With our Quick Start Guide all the steps are layed out, but sometimes things are not that straight-forward.

To help you understand the options you can configure, all the configurable options are listed in a special guide. But this requires you to take some time to read through the actual documentation.

Don't rush things

If you're new to Magento, don't rush things. Magento is a complex application, and this requires you to think before clicking. We highly recommend you read through all the important guides listed on the Magento site before actually diving into MageBridge.

If you know how to deal with Magento, still MageBridge has its own set of issues - mainly related to the API. Everything is well documented, but you need to take your time to read through it all. Our Troubleshooting Guide and Troubleshooting FAQ help you with quick fixes.

First try it in Magento, then in MageBridge

One of the major concepts in MageBridge is that it integrates everything that can be integrated, but it does not reinvent Magento. For instance, the Magento block-assignment is reused in Joomla!, but if a block is not showing in Joomla! the best thing you can do is try to fix the problem in Magento first.

Theming your MageBridge shop

When building a MageBridge shop, you have to be aware of a couple of things. With MageBridge, your Joomla! template is combined with your Magento theme. In our Yireo Shop you can find various modifications of RocketTheme templates that allow you integrate MageBridge quickly with those templates. But if you are using a different Joomla! template or a different Magento theme, you might need to modify the webdesign to make things fit.

Also, the JavaScript engines used by Joomla! and Magento conflict, so you need to be carefull with which Magento third party extensions you combine with Joomla! third party extensions on the same page.

More guides, more help

Our Yireo site is loaded with tutorials - both text tutorials as video tutorials - on the subjects of MageBridge but also Joomla! and Magento. The knowledge is vast, but again you need time to get used to it.

If you are in doubt, you can always place a question on the forum. We will be happy to help you out.
