MageBridge - Joomla! settings
When building a MageBridge shop, you add the complexity of Magento to Joomla!. To make sure you're not overwhelmed it's best to follow our reocmmendations regarding Joomla! settings.
Required settings
For MageBridge to operate correctly, Joomla! SEF need to be enabled. We also highly recommend the usage of Apache htaccess. Please note that MageBridge does not support third party SEF solutions that do not offer compatibility with the default Joomla! SEF (read more).
Global Configuration > Site > Search Engine Friendly URLs: Yes
Global Configuration > Site > Use Apache mod_rewrite: Yes
Within the Global Configuration of Joomla! 1.5, the webservices need to be enabled. Without this, the Magento part of MageBridge will not be able to contact Joomla!. Please note that this setting is not required for Joomla! 1.6.
Global Configuration > System > Enable webservices: Yes
Recommended settings
We highly recommend the use of a MageBridge Root Menu-Item to avoid duplicate content in your Joomla! pages. Though this is mentioned in the MageBridge Installation Guide, some people tend to forget this.
Also check the MageBridge System Check page within your Joomla! Administrator for more tips.
