Magento 2 backender bootcamp (April/May)

Yireo Blog Post

In a few weeks time, Yireo kicks off another Magento 2 training program, this time dubbed as a bootcamp because it will dive into Magento 2 backend development for 4 days on a row. Want to go deep? This is for you.

Bootcamps aka academies

Last year (2023), we started to organize so-called academies: The concept was to teach newcomers, juniors and mediors into the practices of Magento 2 coding from start to end. And with the academy concept, this took 8 weeks of 2 days, so 16 days in total, including some advanced PHP topics, JS, Magento 2 frontending and Magento 2 backending. However, time is expensive. Because of this, we have decided to skin down the program to only 8 days: Chopping up everything in a frontender bootcamp and a backender bootcamp.

The concept of an academy is not entirely gone, we might want to run this again. However, in the short term, we are going to focus on bootcamps instead: Single weeks where a lot of information is going to be pushed through, so that the amount of time that an employee is not working is kept to a minimum.

Magento Backend Development Bootcamp (April 29th - May 2nd)

End of April, we are organizing a bootcamp focused on Magento Backend Development: From Monday to Thursday, four days of intense training. The requirement is to be familiar with PHP OOP programming and to have Magento already installed on a laptop. And with that, as a start, the course pushes attendees towards the final day, to cover most important topics that a Magento developer needs to deal with.

Some topics

The basics of module development are covered, like settting up a module, managing composer packages properly (including replacements and local repositories), semantic versioning the Magento way, Dependency Injection (preferences, types, virtual types, proxies, factories and interceptors), plus numerous module scenarios (routing, View Models, CLI commands, event observers, database models, backend grids).

And the cherry on top of the pie is the additional focus on extension attributes, integration testing and best practices. In short, these topics do not only cover the basics steps, but make sure to push the candidate all the way towards the hardest parts of Magento.

Location of Yireo

This bootcamp takes place in the office of Yireo, Baarn, The Netherlands: A spacious training room with separate lunchroom - spacious, quiet and filled with gadgets - making sure the setting of this training is dedicated to learning as efficiently as possible.
